About the Director

Mari Naumovski blends writing, teaching, healing & environmental stewardship in her palette of life. By profession she is a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist® with ISMETA and a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA) with the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies. Mari also holds a BA in Native Studies and an MA in Sociology in Education (OISE, University of Toronto).

In midlife Mari got the “call of the north,” and realized she would have to compliment her training to meet the needs of the rural regions of northern Canada. She returned to college to obtain a health sciences certification as a Physiotherapist Assistant (Humber College) and certification in Pilates (Second Wind® Pilates Plus studio). Mari has been working as a Rehabilitation Aide in hospitals, an exercise therapist in a rehab clinic and currently teaches local movement classes and workshops.

In 2006, she attained her fitness instructor certification through the Manitoba Fitness Council. In 2010 Mari opened her private studio Vital Moves in Temiskaming Shores, northeastern Ontario, where she offers sessions in Movement Therapy, Pilates, CranioSacral Reflexology (Member of CranioSacral Reflexology International). Mari describes her educational and therapeutic services as "an on-going exploration of the human spirit and its many faces of embodiment." Her creation of “BodySpheres” in the 1990’s represents a culmination of that exploration as applied to the body’s joyful dance of freedom with the ball as partner.
